so i always listen to 105.9 the x during work, and every day they have this thing called the ‘nooner’ where, at noon, they choose a theme and take requests for songs based on that theme. today the theme was covers, so i emailed a request for the smashing pumpkins cover of depeche mode’s never let me down again. it was the last song he played and afterwards he said a whole bit about how he loves introducing his listeners to new songs, but that today someone introduced him to that cover of depeche mode, which he didn’t know existed and actually downloaded real quick just to play for the nooner. and he was super excited because it’s the 30 year anniversary of depeche mode or something so it was great timing.
i’ve never requested a song on the radio before and i thought it was cool that they played it at all. but then my request turned into an entire segment of its own. :)
